What is KaraokePlay?
KaraokePlay is a website offering free karaoke. Our visitors can record their own version of popular songs and rate other recordings.
All you need is a microphone (and some music talent). This service is free, we offer a lot of options and features to help you becoming the next (online) superstar!
Is this free?
The service we provide is free. You do not have to pay for anything.
Why would I sign up?
You need to sign up for free to record your own version of a song. Signing up is fast and easy, we do not send you activation emails or whatever.
It takes 1 minute to sign up, after that you can start recording.
What are the requirements?
You need a sound card and a pair of music boxes to hear the music. To record a song, you need a microphone connected to your computer. The microphone must be installed and working on Windows.
What microphone do I need?
You need a built-in or standalone microphone, connected to your computer.
Please check your settings in Windows/Mac OS to make sure the microphone is properly working.
The first time you record a song, you will need to follow a wizard to setup your microphone.
Why do you need my email?
We will never send out spam or any other email other than a password reset.
Why don't you have [enter song] song?
We need to pay for every song, all the money we earn with the ads goes directly into buying more songs.
It'd be a great support if you could support us buy sending us $2 (the cost of 1 song) and tell us what song you want.
I forgot my password
If you forgot your password, please go to the forgot password page to reset your password to a new password.
I can't login
If you can't login, please make sure that you are using the correct password. If you forgot your password, please click the forgot password link.
Also make sure you do have an account on this website.
What's my profile?
Your profile is your private spot on karaokeplay, it shows your picture and details. Included are your friends and the most recent recordings you've created. You can ofcourse visit other people's profiles. You can setup/edit your profile in the member area.
Can I put my recordings on another social network?
You can share your own recording anywhere you want. We provide a code which you can use to place your own recording on any website.

How do I record songs?
To record a song, you must log in. If you haven't already registered (free) with our site, do so first, it's fast and easy. Once you're logged in, browse through our music collection. Click the record button in the player and make sure your microphone is working.
Once the recording has finished, you can add tags and a description.
You can then see the recording in your studio and share it or edit it.
How is my score calculated?
Our members can vote and give a score to your recordings. Every score is a number between 1 and 5 (5 being the best score).
The score is calculated by taking the average of all scores submitted for your recording.
How do comments work?
Other members can submit comments for your recording.
This does not affect the score.
What are tags?
Tags are words describing a recording. When you are finished recording a song, you can add tags to your recording. That way you can easily find your recording when you need it. Other people can search for certain keywords (tags) and find your recording.
What are my fans?
A fan is much like a friend. The more fans you have, the more popular you are.
If a visitor likes your recording, she/he can become a fan.
Who are my friends?
Friends are people who have added you to their friend list. You can send messages to friends, their picture is shown on your profile.
The more friends you have, the more popular you are in our community.
How do I add a recording to my favorite list?
If you come across a recording you like and want to make sure you can find it back later, you can add it to your list of favorite recordings.
Simply click the link next to the player and confirm that you want to add the recording to your favorite list.
You can view all the recordings in your favorite list, which is located in the member area.
I can't hear my voice?
Please make sure the microphone is connected to your computer. Also make sure that the microphone is fully working on your operating system.
Click settings located in our player and follow the wizard to configure your microphone.
My voice sounds weird
Please make sure that when recording a song, you lower the volume of your music output (boxes).
That way there's less echo which disturbs the recording.
I can't see the player/recorder
You need to download the flash player. Install the package and restart your browser.
The Lyrics are too fast/too slow
It's very difficult to have the lyrics perfectly time-synched. Sometimes there's a drop in internet-speed, the songs takes a couple of seconds extra to load, ...
We are working on this, but it's difficult and will take time until we find a perfect solution.
